The ICON Protocols were developed by the doctors in the ICON network and are based on the latest evidence available. Organized by treatment intent, the Protocols effectively hand the power of decision-making regarding treatment back to the doctor and the patient.

Professional services are billed at packaged rates as per individual scheme agreements for patients receiving radiotherapy, chemotherapy or brachytherapy, making it easier for funders and providers to administrate.

The ICON model serves all members of medical schemes in the industry irrespective of the available benefits of individual funding options.

More than 80% of the country’s oncologists and radiation oncologists are part of the ICON movement and most major medical schemes have accepted the model. ICON also has a national footprint with high-tech chemotherapy and radiation therapy facilities across South Africa.
